Do Data Logging

Unlike data sampling, data logging is the continuous recording of final measurement results transmitted by the Homer.

Perform data logging for about 5-minutes, both without and with autotuning (the former is more important). For the procedure, refer to section Data Logging, applying the special settings as described below. Zip the log files and send them for analysis.

Logging without Autotuning

If, based on previous data sampling analysis and study of the Signal Waveforms topic, you are able to find acceptable Homer parameters (the most important being those in the Homer Sampling Setup window), adjust the Homer accordingly. In case of problems, consult us or leave the default settings. Then proceed as follows:

  • In the Tuner View window, disable autotuning (set the  AT  button to the inactive position).

  • Move the tuning stubs to the home position by clicking the button. If your process does not permit fully retracted stubs but requires a pre-tuning, move the stubs to the desired positions.

  • Open the Data Logging window (click the View|Logging Window menu item) and adjust the settings as shown in Fig. 68. Pay particular attention to the following parameters:

  • Sampling Repetition Time: 0 hours, 0 minutes, 0 seconds to perform the fastest sampling possible.

  • Smpl/Event: 1.

  • Proceed with the remaining setup as described in Data Logging.

  • Run the measurement with logging for several minutes to properly cover the time span of your process.

You may wish to repeat the logging several times or in different conditions (e.g., for various generator power levels).

Logging with Autotuning

  • In the Tuner View window, enable autotuning (activate the  AT  button).

  • Proceed with the remaining steps exactly as described in Logging without Autotuning.
